Sadly one of them has been appropriated by a people hater who will not let anyone near the place, let alone a train. How the hogweed loving, right of way closing Network Fail tolerate this, I have no idea. #Altnabreac

@peterbrown @LALegault
We are not discussing terminally ill patientsWe’re discussing disabled people, who in Canada now have less right to life supports and suicide prevention than non-disabled people
Because I am disabled if I ask for medical assistance in dying, there is a process to “support” me by doing that
If I was non-disabled and asked for support in dying, they would send me to suicide prevention
Some lives in Canada are worth more than others

@peterbrown that has been true since start of devolution, but your relief (and mine) at our #GMfree status in #Scotland may be about to end. Current plans by Westminster government to deregulate new #GeneEdited crops and food will mean that Scottish government will be powerless to prevent their cultivation and sale here, courtesy of the #postBrexit #UK single market Act …a device largely designed to emasculate our devolved powers on a wide front.

@peterbrown @jbenjamint @Peternimmo @kim_harding That assumes that parking wardens actually exist; in #Peebles in the Scottish Borders, they do not. Here all parking restrictions are strictly notional.

@peterbrown I'm not sure that inflicting these dull historical relics on other parts of the city is the best way to go. I have never felt that my day was brightened by seeing any of them. How about melting these statues down and recasting them as art works relevant to the modern day? #controversial #iconoclasm #Glasgow

the cringe of the day:
our mayor honoured his party top donor with his own day“... declare October 18 Peter Brown day in the City of Vancouver”

@peterbrown @simon_brooke @breadandcircuses @LillyHerself yes, and we can grow them so much bigger now than the wild ones …although who knows how big they were back then? #PlantBreeding

@peterbrown in bits of N America yes but I’m guessing it won’t be too popular in places where even in summer it’s windy in four directions at once & the rain is pretty much horizontal*
*where could I possibly mean?

@peterbrown @JackTheCat @peterbrown I’ve now read the Courier piece & I stand corrected. The OO does have a prog of small town ‘visits’ but this is not part of that. They are indeed marching to remember the Cameronian defeat of the Jacobites and do so every year. The organiser refers to it as ‘a peaceful church parade’. Dunkeld wasn’t in my constituency & my very frequent visits there only began at the end of 2020 - which explains why I’ve missed this bit of local ‘pageantry’ #OrangeOrder

@peterbrown @JackTheCat doubt they have much awareness of the history - either the locals or the OO. OO just regularly exercising their ‘right’ to march even in places with no history of Orange Walks. Couple of years ago it was Perth. Next year it will be a different village/town. They move around #OrangeOrder

@peterbrown @alextually @fionaorkneynews the warning signs have been there for quite a few years now. It’s just that people - and yes, I do mean ordinary people - haven’t taken and don’t take it seriously. As someone raised in a country where water scarcity was always an issue most of the small daily routine behaviours that are a result of that upbringing have never left me #ScottishWater #Water #Scotland #WaterScarcity

@peterbrown @withaveeay the 4 or 5 colleagues I had come into the consulate with produced a home-made banner and started chanting ' free Nelson Mandela!'
Worst bit was spending a night on my own in the cells with nothing but a couple of S.A. travel brochures for company.
Plus point was getting released before court ad I had a legitimate argument that the consulate should send the message. I felt bad for my pals, though.
We must always find ways to resist evil
