Research found an average of 35% of customer bills used to pay for interest on companies’ loans, & to pay dividends to shareholders

    You're paying a #PrivatisationTax for #water companies dividends & debt

Publicly owned #ScottishWater doesn’t pay dividends to private shareholders, lost just 8% of revenue in interest payments

  5. Having our first “community organization” meeting with Scottish Water this afternoon to see how their projects on upgrading the Water of Leith CSOs goes.

Only taken 4 months, and we have many questions, and are looking forward to hearing about timelines and plans so that we citizens can hold our water company accountable.

  6. @Workshopshed

ha ha, yes the advantages of the #ScottishWater business model have become quite a theme here in the last few days

  7. @peterbrown @alextually @fionaorkneynews the warning signs have been there for quite a few years now. It’s just that people - and yes, I do mean ordinary people - haven’t taken and don’t take it seriously. As someone raised in a country where water scarcity was always an issue most of the small daily routine behaviours that are a result of that upbringing have never left me #ScottishWater #Water #Scotland #WaterScarcity

  8. Attending my first Edinburgh City Council meeting this morning.

As a resident of The Shore, with a keen interest in the environment around us, going in support of & interested in hearing the debate on motion 8.4 by Councillor Caldwell - Sewage in Edinburgh's Waterways.

More info can be found at this link: democracy.edinburgh.gov.uk/ieL

Looking forward to commenting after the discussions.

  9. Looks like the #ScottishWater does something evil in the background as in keeping your #iPhone thinking it’s in constant use. My #screentime is up 175% because that tab was open somewhere in the background for 48h 🫠

  10. Sharing an article here for others to read & boost

It’s an issue that hits close to home (literally) and taking care of the Water of Leith & The Shore is where I’ve been spending my volunteer time as of late.

Sewage outlet run-off and recently the presence of oil/diesel slicks settling into the shore basin amongst the wildlife is a large cause for concern!
