  1. #randomthoughts...

speaking as a person who is attached to no church or faith,,,

when you talk about things that are #offensive,

the single most #offensive things in the west of #Scotland and other places just now, are the number and size of #OrangeOrder marches...

  2. Along with so many others, I will never advocate for a #UnitedIreland. I would take ten refugees any day over one of these boneheads behind this act of barbaric rascim. They are not and never will be Irish and our country has enough problems without having to accept or accommodate this lot.
    It's simply not worth it.

  3. Oh dear, even the late Brenda* was not a fan of the Orange Order, referring to the “silly marching season” in Northern Ireland.

  4. #SuellaBraverman:

“They are an assertion of primacy by certain groups — particularly Islamists — of the kind we are more used to seeing in #NorthernIreland.

“Also disturbingly reminiscent of Ulster are the reports that some of Saturday’s march group organisers have links to terrorist groups, including Hamas.”

NB: Dozens of #OrangeOrder Remembrance parades will happen this weekend, despite the links to terrorist groups in the Order itself and the flute bands.

This must have the #DUP spinning.

  5. @peterbrown @JackTheCat @peterbrown I’ve now read the Courier piece & I stand corrected. The OO does have a prog of small town ‘visits’ but this is not part of that. They are indeed marching to remember the Cameronian defeat of the Jacobites and do so every year. The organiser refers to it as ‘a peaceful church parade’. Dunkeld wasn’t in my constituency & my very frequent visits there only began at the end of 2020 - which explains why I’ve missed this bit of local ‘pageantry’ #OrangeOrder

  6. @JackTheCat yeah, they were in Perth a few years ago and they’ll be somewhere else next year. It’s an assertion of a ‘right’ for the sake of it and is beyond tedious for all the communities where they rock up #OrangeOrder

  7. @peterbrown @JackTheCat doubt they have much awareness of the history - either the locals or the OO. OO just regularly exercising their ‘right’ to march even in places with no history of Orange Walks. Couple of years ago it was Perth. Next year it will be a different village/town. They move around #OrangeOrder

  8. @JackTheCat little known fact. The OO visits small towns in a sort of rotational ‘programme’ whether those small towns like it or not. Super tedious for said small towns #OrangeOrder #Dunkeld
