  1. So I am building an ecomm shop using Fresh JS and Deno.

It is a very different than Vue but seems way faster.

  2. Blog post: "Deno 2 and Backwards Compatibility in Dropserver"

    olivierforget.net/blog/2024/de

I look at how #Deno 2's arrival makes me break my aspirations of backwards compatibility in #Dropserver, and what I will do to make the next breaking changes in Deno a non-issue.

I really want Dropserver apps to have a long shelf life, even after they are abandoned by their devs. But that takes good design and work. Real-world challenges like Deno 2's arrival help me clearly see what I need to do.

  3. From the experience I've had in the last few weeks:

    #Deno is a better #NodeJS
    #BunJS is a better Deno

    🤓

  4. @leaverou this made me curious how they accomplish this in other JavaScript envs; Bun has a `bun link` which creates global symlinks, but in Deno you can use import maps to locally alias modules which sounds nice!

  5. Deno runtime now integrates with Jupyter Notebook

1.37 introduces the use of with the `deno jupyter` command., It also improves Visual Studio Code support with better detection of `deno.json`, new configurations, and NPM-specifier completions. Users can upgrade via the `deno upgrade` command.

  6. The distributed Deno KV (Key Value) database is quite interesting. Instead of back and forth messaging with a KV you defer some of the jobs to a remote entity in order to have reduced latency whilst still staying ACID.

Generally excited about what the future of databsing and distributed systems will bring.

Also generally that there are more novel things people explore github.com/authzed/spicedb excites me a lot

  7. Been playing with #Deno and #FreshJS to build a small app for #LegendsOfRuneterra, and the developer experience has been amazing so far.

#DenoDeploy is freaking amazing. It's the closest I've ever gotten to push and forget. I usually like to #SelfHost, but for this project I didn't want to bother with all that.

Deno will be on the top of the list for whenever I want to work on a side project. (Now just need to think how I can champion for it at work...)

  11. @steffo that would be pretty cool. You could like @ the bot with a message and then it’ll reply with the deck or something.

I’ve been wanting to work on the match history. I started on something a few weeks ago using #FreshJS (an excuse to play with #Deno ). So far the most annoying thing was finding out how to get a players PUUID as I don’t want to start using OAuth yet.
