  2. @djangochat @wsvincent @carlton I was checking GitHub and realized that Sara opened an issue with exactly the same idea I had after listening to the Django Chat episode about Django 6.0. I only noticed it today and this really surprised me 😄

Sara opened the issue, then Natalia commented on it, and after listening to the same episode I ended up commenting too. Same podcast, same ideas, different places, all crossing in one thread 🤯

  4. I wanted to let @carlton, @wsvincent and @CodenameTim know that you are indirectly with me on the train to Venice, because you are keeping me company with the latest excellent episode of @djangochat 🚆

A truly enjoyable episode, which gave me a couple of ideas, which I hope I will have time to share 💡

I obviously recommend everyone to listen it 🎧

  5. Great #djangochat episode, @CodenameTim @carlton @wsvincent

I'm now thinking that we as a community should reclaim the word "just". Just do it isn't such a bad slogan really. Yes, it always takes time and energy, and we don't always have it. I certainly don't right now. But, "just" could help us see that things do not always have to be complicated. Small steps are good.

  6. I heartily recommend the latest #DjangoChat episode with the #Django fellows. A great listen.

I have a few thoughts about Django's backwards compatibility now. Natalia mentioned that the process should be clearer but that it shouldn't necessarily be easier to get contributions in. I'm very glad that Django is rock-solid and extremely stable, it helps a lot when running dozens of websites using it. But, now I worry that stability is emphasized a tiny bit too much.

  7. Listening to #DjangoChat episode with @jmduke .
I find it charming that ButtonDown's docs feature a screenshot from a dev machine with a hint to #DjangoDebugToolbar amongst stylised illustrations.

I'm sure it doesn't hurt anybody. And to me it's a positive marker of a small company simply trying to do its thing 👌.
Who has an army of technical marketers to be pedantic about screenshots? If it accurately illustrates the idea, let it be.
(Or is it an Easter egg for Django geeks? 🤔)

  8. I'm in the middle of the latest #DjangoChat episode, where @carlton and @wsvincent talk to @webology about all sorts of interesting things. Jeff raised an interesting question -- how come the same people tend to be for Class-based views but func-based tests, and vice versa?

As one who uses both, but prefers func-based-views and UnitTest, my take is that it's not just class-vs-function; I have issues with pytest, specifically, and would probably prefer a less magical func-based test framework.

  9. @sabderemane @carlton was the discussion in the last #DjangoChat (ep. 161, about making meetup talks available to the greater public) so fruitful that it's going to happen for this one in Paris? :)

I've come to rely kn @brianokken and @mkennedy systematic date-stamping of their episodes, maybe that's a feedback point for #DjangoChat? cc. @carlton

  12. @wsvincent in the latest #DjangoChat episode, you mentioned a talk in Boston happening in the coming days about the User model (leaning on @carlton's ideas). Will you link to the slides here when ready by any chance? #Django

  19. RE: fosstodon.org/@djangochat/1164

We missed a @djangonews shout-out to @raffaellasuardini and @djangonaut for helping with our weekly Django Updates.

@sarahboyce suggested and volunteered to start this section and helped kick it off.

Since then, Raffaella and a dozen+ Djangonaut Spacers have been contributing weekly to keep it going.

  22. Today on my walk, I was listening to the DjangoChat episode on Django 6.0 with Natalia Bidart, hosted by Carlton Gibson and Will Vincent, and in just the first 15 minutes I got so many cool ideas to share!

For example, how we might help the community test new Django versions more easily or align releases more smoothly.

Just a little daily inspiration from a nice stroll! 🌿

Give it a listen and get inspired! 🎧
