  1. @kerryb #LiveView does a great job at hiding all the asynchronous things ;-). Maybe too good a job. ;-). I am now in an edge case - I have an internal DSL for extensible forms, so am interested in e.g. testing validation and rendering the outcome as HTML so the users and I can have a conversation about it. The persistence of it is relatively boring, so having that in each test does not add much value (but does add runtime and complexity in running tests).

  6. 💜 I have a favor to ask: If you know of a team using #ElixirLang, #Phoenix, or #LiveView that might benefit from a seasoned developer helping out part-time or full-time for tech debt cleanup, system stabilization, testing, documentation, or mentoring -- an introduction would be very much appreciated. #FediHire

  18. Why Elixir for a decentralised knowledge platform?

Real-time contributions via Phoenix PubSub: no polling, no WebSocket management code, no client state library. One broadcast call. The browser gets a diff.

SIWE (Sign-In with Ethereum) implemented in pure Elixir — no Rust NIFs. The siwe_ex and siwe hex packages both hit OTP 27 incompatibilities. Pure secp256k1 + ex_keccak is the canonical implementation now.

One language, one deploy unit. No Go API + Next.js split. No JSON serialisation between your own services.

The BEAM's fault-tolerance model makes supervised Waku node management and Codex upload queuing natural in Phase 1/2. Not bolted on.

  21. Thanks to everyone that joined me for my first ever conference talk last Thursday at @[email protected]. It was a lot of fun! Remember to try the #Phoenix #LiveView 1.2.0 release candidate and report any issues. I'm also happy to hear if everything works just fine for you :)

i just looked at your profile. I see you use #react. I just came back to #django maybe a year or two ago.

Do you find that #react and #django are a natural fit? I have kinda shied away from react, just because i thought the learning curve might be a bit much.

I did several big projects with #elixir / #phoenix , and i REALLY liked the #LiveView approach. I am not sure if there is a such a thing in Django world.

Funny enough, i have a note in my future bin to go down this rabbit hole

  30. TAM and OMN tools for potential Bonfire workflows

This article looks at Techno Anarchist and Open Media Network tools that would boost efficiency and productivity in Bonfire workflows. And I will be paraphrasing heavily.

As mentioned in a previous TPF post, I plan to experiment with Bonfire and have taken notes for a series of articles.

This is the second one. The first is here if you inexplicably missed it. 😉

I have even reserved the […]

  34. I'm building my own component library for #Phoenix #LiveView. It will be called "Voun", which means "humus" in Réunion Creole. It's a great opportunity to refactor the components of @brinjel, leveraging the modern features of #CSS.

For example, we can display a check or warning icon in input fields using only CSS pseudoelements `:user-valid` and `:user-invalid`.
