After 600 miles of driving in the rain, I finally reached my childhood hometown. I arrived a few hours early so I visited the place that I will always fondly remember as being a place of peace, growth and happiness when I was a kid.
I might've had a private little conversation with the 12-year-old version of me as I walked through these doors. I might've given him some words of encouragement and assurance that he was gonna turn out just fine. I might've also asked the 92-year-old version of me to do the same for me right now.

This hit me right in the feels - not only politically, but primarily with powerful nostalgia for the set of #AlJaffee books I devoured as a kid.
