Walking through one of the guest houses at Hearst Castle, I pause before a painting, pensive.
"Is that a portrait of the vampire Nadja?"
Nope.
But, that does make me think of the "What We Do in the Shadows" theme song "You're Dead" by Norma Tanega...

You know, I am not saying that there is a curse upon those that stay in this guest house.
But with that statue in the room, I think I'd be grabbing a blanket and sleeping out the garden.

About 15 years ago, I visited the Hearst Castle in San Simeon, CA. It was an absolutely magical thing to see!

Visited Hearst Castle in the rain today. It was beautiful. Never been? Worth the trip!
Central California estate built 100 years ago by publishing mogul William Hearst. Designed by architect Julia Morgan, first woman to have a practice in California. Big deal for early 1900s.
Hearst was an avid collector, sourcing art from around the world. Includes four original 16th century tapestries—whose copies are in the Louvre. Incredible.
