  1. It has been nearly two weeks since the World Chess Championship challengers were determined at the Candidates tournament in Cyprus. But what path did 🇮🇳 Vaishali Rameshbabu and 🇺🇿 Javokhir Sindarov take on their path to qualifying?

🇳🇱 Anish Giri's second place score in the open (+3) would have been enough to win the event in the women's section.

  2. The moment Vaishali Rameshbabu won the Candidates Tournament for the right to challenge Ju Wenjun for World Championship. Absolutely amazing feat!

  3. Heartbreaking that Anish Giri wasn't able to beat Wei Yi today to keep at least some pressure on Javokhir Sindarov going into the last two rounds of the candidates tournament. It was never easy, but it was especially unfortunate that he made an accidental threefold repetition in a position where he could have pressed for much longer.

  4. Vaishali Rameshbabu 🇮🇳 is now in the sole lead and in position to vie for the Women's World Chess Championship title! Amazing what she has achieved so far. It is still tense as there are two players just half a point behind.

  5. Apparently this endgame is losing, which is not obvious to me at all. (And apparently not for Praggnanandhaa either.) See if you can find the series of moves to win the bishop.

  6. There's a 5-way tie for first place in the Women's Candidates tournament: Anna Muzychuk, Divya Deshmukh, Zhu Jiner and Kataryna Lagno. This can be anyone's tournament with 6 rounds to go.

In the open section Javokhir Sindarov's lead is now a full 2 points as Fabiano Caruana loses and Anish Giri moves alongside him into a tie for second.

  7. 🇳🇱 Anish Giri held 🇺🇿 Javokhir Sindarov to a draw today in the open section. 🇺🇸 Fabiano Caruana also drew so the standings didn't change at the top.

🇨🇳 韦奕 (Wei Yi) and 🇮🇳 Vaishali Rameshbabu were the only winners in round 7. Meaning that nothing changed at the top in the women's either. There's a rest day tomorrow and more Candidates excitement on the 7th of April.

  8. It's an absolute crazy run for 🇺🇿 Javokhir Sindarov as he wins his fifth game in six rounds against 🇨🇳 韦奕 (Wei Yi). Very impressive play from the 20-year old, and if he keeps even half of his composure for the rest of the tournament he'll win the chance to play the world championship.

🇺🇦 Анн́а Музичу́к (Anna Muzychuk) pulls ahead in the women's section where we have a sole leader for the first time.

  9. 🇺🇿 Javokhir Sindarov and 🇺🇸 Fabiano Caruana both won in the open section. Both of them are having a great tournament, but only Sindarov is having a spectacular tournament with a score of 4.5/5.

In the women's it is super close with three players in the lead by half a point: ♟️ Катерина Лагно (Kateryna Lagno), 🇺🇦 Анн́а Музичу́к (Anna Muzychuk) and 🇨🇳 朱锦尔 (Zhu Jiner).

  10. It has been a crazy start to the open section of the FIDE Candidates Tournament. Sindarov has won three out of his first four games. This is the graph of the results going into the rest game. I can't wait until round 5 tomorrow.

  11. 🇺🇿 Javokhir Sindarov is now in the sole lead by a full point after defeating 🇺🇸 Fabiano Caruana in round 4 of the open section. 🇺🇦 Anna Muzychuk joins 🇰🇿 Bibisara Assaubayeva in the lead after defeating ♟️ Kataryna Lagno in the women's section.

  12. 🇨🇳 Wei Yi lost to 🇺🇸 Fabiano Caruana in just 19 moves today in the Candidates Tournament. Very unexpected to lose so quickly, and I assume something went wrong in the opening preparation.

  13. 🇺🇸 Fabiano Caruana and 🇺🇿 Javokhir Sindarov are leading the open section by a full point at the end of round 3 in the candidates tournament and have a good shot at challenging 🇮🇳 Gukesh Dommaraju for the world chess championship.

🇰🇿 Bibisara Assaubayeva and ♟️ Kateryna Lagno lead the rest of the women by half a point. Both will hope to face the current champion 🇨🇳 居文君 (Ju Wenjun).

  14. All games were drawn in Round 2 of the Candidates Tournament. However, it was not a boring round: 🇮🇳 Vaishali Rameshbabu and ♟️ Kateryna Lagno saved positions in which they were significantly worse.

  15. We have 3 winners in the first round of the candidates tournament:
    🇺🇿 Javokhir Sindarov
    🇮🇳 Praggnanandhaa R
    🇺🇸 Fabiano Caruana

Absolutely crazy to see so many decisive results in the open section and such accurate play in the women's section. This is going to be an amazing event!

  18. Some cool news about taking memory vulnerabilities seriously: security.apple.com/blog/memory
My understanding is that it improves upon the probabilistic protection of the original to make the probability of a successful attack even lower. I'm a little sad they didn't go for a more deterministic approach like but still a cool development in real hardware.
