  1. Up close and personal with pelis starting their day.

  2. The access

  3. Kinda have a crush on her.

  4. Just a reminder that Laura Poitras' documentary about Seymour Hersh, "Cover-Up," is wonderful. It's on Netflix.

  5. 🎶And little Sir John with his nut-brown bowl
And his brandy in the glass
And little Sir John with his nut-brown bowl
Proved the strongest man at last.

For the huntsman he can't hunt the fox,
Nor so loudly to blow his horn
And the tinker he can't mend kettle nor pot
    Without a little barley corn.🎶

Because alcohol conquers the noble and working man, the song seems to be saying.

This is such a great album.

  6. 🎶I creep through the valleys
    I grope through the woods
'Cause I know when I find it, my honey,
It's gonna make me feel good.🎶

  7. Great to hear these guys play their at its simplest. They're all such good musicians and singers.

  8. in on remastered 180g : Traffic's magnum opus. The last note of "Low Spark" is just...perfect

  9. Want to hear "St Louis Blues" like you've never heard it before? Listen to Sydney Bechet. Just amazing. His tone's a bit shrill, but what a musician!

  10. in I just can't get enough of Art Hodes' stride piano.

  11. Not many bands had a better debut album than this.

    🎶So Daddy, don't you worry 'bout this crazy man;
Go on and do what you think you should.
But please don't you call him "Little Boy Bad"
When you know he could be Johnny B Goode!🎶

  12. on in , 's final album, which is mournful, low-key, kinda dippy. But I really, really love it.

  13. Saw this old in a driveway this morning. The way the passenger-side door doesn't exactly line up tells me it's in frequent use, which is good! Anyone know if those fake-knock-off hubcaps are original? Betting they are.

  14. on in , the Rev Gary Davis tune "I am the Light of This World," and is definitely one of them.

  15. Just heard 's "Appalachian Spring" suite on . Music doesn't get much better than that.

  16. Was just listening to Jorma do Merle Travis' "Reenlistment Blues" and was inspired to read about Travis, whose W'pedia bio says he was "... a heavy drinker and at times desperately insecure despite a multitude of talents (including prose writing, taxidermy, cartooning, and watch repair)."

After a brief clip of Kirk and Monty, here's Merle doing it in the barracks in "From Here to Eternity."

  17. They made a lot of great music, but they never made a better album than this one. Just listen to the gorgeous three-part semi-dissonant harmonies, Jorma's lead and Jack's bass on "Watch Her Ride."

  21. famously threatened/promised us that "You may never hear surf music again," but if you turn up the sound on this little vid, you can definitely hear a bit.

  22. Nobody's a bigger fan than I, but I wasn't familiar with his first sort-of-solo album, "Quah." It's on Tidal, and full of nice stuff, lots of Rev Gary Davis. His fingerstyle works better with strings than you'd expect.

  23. in , an album of songs you might have first heard elsewhere, maybe from or . Amazing fingerstyle playing and singing.

  24. on , my favorite rock instrumental, "Spare Chaynge." , Jack and Spencer play up a storm.

  25. If you like high quality there're about two hours of it on this album (available on ). As for me, I'll never get tired of .
