  1. @rickscully Herbie was an occasional visitor to the #Waltham Farmers’ Market. I was star struck by his #TheDead adjacent life, but he was generous, humble, and friendly. RIP another brother.

  2. Busy and wearying first day back at the grindstone for us all here. Sneaking this one in before midnight and seeing the Epiphany and Christmas out …

  4. Anyone who cares about #literature, #JamesJoyce or the historic fabric of #Dublin, should mind this:

A developer, who trousered €130 million of public money by exploiting the most vulnerable people in Ireland, now wants to turn the Usher's Island house of Joyce's story "The Dead" (also the location of John Huston's film), into "mundane" apartments.

Write to the planning authorities and Dublin City Council.

  5. #NowPlaying in #highfidelity, an album of songs you might have first heard elsewhere, maybe from #Jorma or #thedead. Amazing fingerstyle playing and singing. #ChunderRoad

  7. On this day in 2003, #BobDylan played Atlanta, Georgia. His own set, followed by guesting with #TheDead

"If she's passing back this way
    Lord, I hope she don't
Tell her she can look me up
    I'll either be here or I won't"

  8. @NYSloth @gutenberg_org

Did you know : in Viaggio in Italia (Journey to #Italy, 1954, with #IngridBergman) #Rossellini tells a parallel yet subtly different tale as #TheDead.

Well worth reading the short then watching the #movie. #Naples #Dublin #Joyce

    Being contrarian here.

Your brother was right on about there being a last day - that's the last day I'll have any say in what happens.

Dead people continue on as social constructs* for a while - George Washington is still around in some manner - just he gets no say, no influence, in how we have him around.

*Or have I used the wrong term and they're not social constructs?
If not then who are the dead? Or is that better stated as "What are the dead?".

  12. Me and a few thousand of my friends seeing #TheDead at The Gorge amphitheater on the Columbia River in Eastern Washington

We went in a friend's VW Eurovan and I just slept on the ground with a pad. It was a warm summer weekend.
