  3. From the vantage point at the top of Kasamatsu Park (傘松公園) it is customary to look through your legs, turning the sandbar into a heavenly bridge, with the sky and sea changing places.

    Viewing Amanohashidate (天橋立) this way is also said to bring luck.

  5. The god Izanagi (伊邪那岐) had a ladder called 'amanōkihashi' (天の浮橋) that he would use to climb down from heaven to visit his partner Izanami (伊弉冉尊) at Manaihara (真名井原) on earth.

    One day he fell asleep and the ladder fell to the ground, becoming Amanohashidate (天橋立).

    The 3km sandbar is covered with 8000 pine trees, creating a scene known as 'hakusha-seishō' (白砂青松), the place of 'white sand and green pines'.
