The shortest book I read this year was also the one that took me longest to read. Not because it was bad, but just because it was in Japanese. 😁
I heard about おいしいごはんが食べられますように when it won the Akutagawa Prize, so when I saw it in a bookshop in Shimokitazawa I thought I'd buy it (being a short novella, it seemed less daunting).
And I really enjoyed it, even though it was hard work 😁.

Really enjoyed this, the first "proper" novella I read in Japanese. It's short and in English I probably would have finished it in one afternoon, while this took about 5 weeks. 😅
But highly recommend in whatever language you read it in.
