I'm going to be part of an upcoming #art show! The Public Display Agency is showcasing artists in Obsidian, “a curated art experience … that blends design, dialogue, and discovery. This one-night showcase unites visual artists, designers, and makers in an immersive, gallery-style setting.” The event is RSVP, and is pay-what-you-want, to keep it accessible for participants, while still supporting artists. #ArtAdventCalendar Day 14 - I try to stretch my neurons every now and then, setting down the camera and picking up a pencil or brush. My skill with drawing is definitely at the beginner level, but I feel it's important to do every now and then: aside from the technical aspects it helps me focus on--like texture, contrast, line, shape--it reminds me that my art doesn't always need to look like a photograph (that's what photography is for).

"The Land We Share," a solar panel mural, is being installed on the north side of the SunRise Building at 10609 101 Street (formerly Capital Tower). Designed by Edmonton Indigenous artist Lance Cardinal, the mural celebrates First Nations and Chinese communities. It features animals representing the Seven Sacred Grandfather Teachings in Indigenous culture on the left and the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac on the right.

Yesterday I finally had the chance to check out the redeveloped Centennial Plaza behind the Milner EPL, featuring new public art: the mosaic sculpture "Ugo" by Erin Pankratz & Christian Pérès Gibaut, and light displays in the shape of flowers.

A mural created to commemorate the journalists killed while covering Gaza since October 7. The art was led by AJA Louden, Tzadeka, and Ahmad. Community members wrote the names of journalists.
