  1. Dennis Hopper put the 1960s counter-culture on screen as never before in the iconic EASY RIDER (1969). Here's our discussion. #YabtM #reviews #YouTube #movies #film #cinema #FilmMastodon #DennisHopper youtube.com/watch?v=7D0TKIerFL

  2. I’m just a romcom, standing in front of six film snobs. We all meet cute and live happily ever after, when two new episodes of Yelling About Movies drop this Friday. #YabtM #reviews #YouTube #movies #film #cinema #CineMastodon #FilmMastodon #romcoms

  3. Upon hearing the phrase “child soldier” you may picture something that happens far away, in the “third world.” Maybe picture this. Two new episodes of Yelling About Movies drop this Friday. #YabtM #reviews #YouTube #movies #film #cinema #CineMastodon #FilmMastodon #Germany #Denmark #worldcinema #foreigncinema #WarMovies #WW2 #WWII

  4. Our second Soviet film this week is THE ASCENT (1977). In the hands of director Larisa Shepitko, this tale of two partisan fighters captured by German soldiers takes on the aspect of a religious parable. #YabtM #reviews #YouTube #worldcinema #foreigncinema #warmovies #Russia #USSR #movies #film #cinema #FilmMastodon #Cinemastodon youtube.com/watch?v=2Zv-AQqG4F

  5. Yelling About Movies goes to the USSR this week with two Soviet-era films set during World War II. Bolstered by spectacular cinematography, THE CRANES ARE FLYING (1957, D. Mikhail Kalatozov) spends limited time on the front lines, focusing instead on the emotional devastation inflicted on those back home. CRANES was the only Soviet film to win the Palm d'Or at Cannes. Here's our discussion.

  6. @gustav
ATTACK THE BLOCK (2011, Joe Cornish) great "monsters from space" action-comedy
SPLICE (2009, Vincenzo Natali) icky bio-horror in the vein of Cronenberg
UPGRADE (2018, Leigh Whannell) - terrific sci-fi/action, violent and fun
THE CLONE RETURNS HOME (2008, Kanji Nakajima) quiet, meditative film on loss and identity
WORLD ON A WIRE (1973, Rainer Werner Fassbinder) very '70s, very German proto-#cyberpunk #virtualreality story
BORDER (Gräns) (2018 Ali Abbasi) - you may know this one, a Swedish production! Not quite sci-fi, but amazing. Strongly recommend you watch it cold, read nothing about it beforehand.
THE ENDLESS (2018, Aaron Moorhead & Justin Benson - really, their entire output, but this film is my favorite of theirs)
UNDER THE SKIN (2013, Jonathan Glazer) A brilliant meditation on alien-ness
TIMECRIMES (Spanish: Los cronocrímenes) (2007, Nacho Vigalondo) Twisty time-loop story

  7. Get real! Computer scientists create a digital society in WORLD ON A WIRE (1973). Rainer Werner Fassbinder's weird and slightly kinky sci-fi mystery anticipates virtual reality years before the term was coined. Originally made for German TV, WORLD ON A WIRE is presented on Criterion Channel as two 105-minute films. Here's our discussion of part 1.
