Chewed up by the dream factory: this week on Yelling About Movies, noir visions of Hollywood and the people it drives to the brink: SUNSET BOULEVARD (1950, D. Billy Wilder) and IN A LONELY PLACE (1950, D. Nicholas Ray). Two new episodes of Yelling About Movies drop this Friday.

I bought a ticket and saw DIGGER last night. My take (if somehow you need another take on this movie) is that it's neither as bad as some are saying nor as good as others are saying. What begins as a broad and not-so-funny farce about climate disaster adds layers and, kind of surprisingly, finds its footing. Tom Cruise takes a big swing and in his best scenes, delivers. Co-star Riz Ahmed is terrific and fun to watch. Fun & inventive art direction, and some beautiful cinematography as we'd expect from Emmanuel Lubezki. It's worth your time.
