  1. Feeling this super hard. spookygirl.boo/notes/ag59opukn

I have a big but vague vision in my head for making something awesome for my #wwv time decoder, but I got it to the point where I can prove to myself that it works, then lost all motivation. mastodon.social/@noleli/115582

In the past I’ve been able to serve as my own developer, designer, and project manager for some personal projects. That isn’t coming together for me now.

  6. Decoding a #WWV time signal from an #SDR with the #WebAudio API!

It’s very rudimentary and not very robust to noise so I wasn’t able to capture a video till now even though I had it working months ago. (Video at 4×)

  11. I just did this *again*. Ugh.

This time, spent weeks (mostly in the background) confused about why my #wwv decoder was working with a media element source but not a user media source. mastodon.social/@noleli/113013

  16. Working on my #wwv decoder. So far I seem to have a reasonable (though far from ideal, I’m sure) way of calculating a dynamic pulse threshold and am successfully reading the every-10-second position pulses.

  21. Maybe a niche question, but... does anyone else notice that time.gov's live time readout is slightly desynchronized from #WWV? The latency compensation doesn't seem to work very well -- it is up to 3/4 second "off" between different computers and browsers, and differs from atomic truth by at least this much, which is much worse than I was expecting.

  26. #HAMsci Looking to setup a space weather station.
First step was to order all the parts.
Next step was to see if I could get #WWV station (spoiler. Yeah, I already know I can).
Looking forward to helping out another crowd sourced project.

  30. @johnb48

Remember hearing how the orcs stole that raccoon from the zoo in Kherson, and how pissed the Ukrainians were?

    As they should be!

Who the hell steals a raccoon?

We ought to be that protective of our precious WWV chicken clucking forever across the planet's ionosphere.

    Nobody takes away our chicken!

  33. "What's WWV?", you ask.

That's America's shortwave time station. It's a century old. For all my life, it has been steadily clucking like a chicken, once a second. And at the top of each minute, it says the UTC time and beeps.

It is a good thing, so the Trump admin tried to kill it:

    voanews.com/a/time-may-be-runn

It is a shared public good.

I use it to set time on my #qrp rig.

    Or check propagation.

Or check whether the coax broke.
