@liamvhogan I was so over it, and I'm 1.94m big, that I bought an electric one (Husqvarna 535iXP #electric #chainsaw, x two #battery and a charger).

I cannot tell you what a beautiful, #sexyBeast thing it is. Will cut gum trunks bigger than my firebox eats. Will last longer on one battery than my middle-aged body does. Starts 10msec after you think 'start'.

Best bit: no cord. I never think 'I want to stop the noise and fumes, but I don't want the trouble of restarting the bugger'. Next best: I imagine the windfarm over the valley sending electrons direct into its little battery heart. Just for me.

Press trigger, whir-rumble, cut stuff, fill socks with woodchips. Trad.
But, when I release the trigger, the noise (there's no smell) instantly stops and I can hear the lyrebird again.

Felling a 40 year old pine, I could *hear* each creak and splinter. Then, very fucking casually release the trigger, step back away to a safe distance, with a silent, still, safe chainsaw in my hand. Bloody marvellous.
Breathe. Tree go #wump.

Best tool I've bought since the Fiskars Xa23 brush hook. Now that's a joy, but also a different story....
