Hab heute nochmal einen sauberen Diskettensatz von Microsoft Word 6.0 für Windows 3.1 bekommen und erfolgreich ausgelesen und auch testweise installiert. Diesmal handelt es sich um die Update-Version aus dem Jahre 1993, die vor der Installation nach älteren Fassungen des Programms sucht. Meine Disketten von Winword 2.0b wurden zum Glück problemlos akzeptiert.

This year, #Microsoft will be sunsetting #Publisher in favor of #WinWord . I don't mind letting them believe their own lies about how #MSWord is a #DTP tool for professionals. But I need options that will work on #Debian #Linux . Options other than #LibreOffice because that's too expansive. I just need a proper DTP tool with the ease of #QuarkXPress . Suggestions, please!

Der Verkäufer beschrieb die Disketten gemeinerweise bereits als "antik" und das nur, weil sie halt schon 35 Jahre alt sind. Für ihr Alter ließen sie sich aber noch sehr sauber auslesen. Hier frisch aus dem Jahre 1990: WinWord 1.1 für Windows 2.x:

Paid for corporations?
BTW, I still find the #Office365 #spellchecker still lacking. It always overlooks 1-4 error per printed page.
I often use #LibreOffice for my #Word docx files as an additional step.Haven't done any papers larger than 20-30 pages with this method, but never had a layout etc. issue after re-opening and saving ahson in #WinWord.
