I have mentioned in my introduction that I am very dissatisfied with the quality of games and game developement in the past decade. While I'd like to write about it more, here is a video that summarize almost everything about the problems of modern game design and development:

The Thief trilogy is my favorite game series ever, and this video perfectly captures of the state of the modern gamedesign.

Beware, cause it has heavy spoilers for Thief: The Dark Project (which imo everyone should try to play, even if you are not fan of the stealth genre), mainly for the story, and the author of the video showed how organic storytelling works through various gameplay elements and even level design, which both are very rare in today's gamedesign.
