It feels like #Wealthsimple has completely lost its way. I moved to them to support an innovative, modern, Canadian company, but their recent moves are ???. Partnering with X/Twitter, with an owner who has been calling to annex #Canada is a betrayal of their Canadian customers.
Add in their push for "prediction contracts" (aka Polymarket-style gambling), & they've clearly abandoned their original "Get Rich Slow" philosophy, and I'm starting to feel like my money isn't safe there anymore... 😩

So, I've received another batch of identity-theft spam, targeting #Canada #Canadian #Canadians with #investment -related #IdentityTheft #scams.
The messages direct the target to update their US IRS W-8BEN forms, which require that you enter a bunch of personal information, and are probably stealing login and password and #2FA codes to get access to investment accounts.
Remind your family and friends, especially the elderly and non-tech-savvy folks to NEVER click links in eMails from banks or investment companies.
The targets this week are #TDBank, #NationalBank, but they have previously attempted to impersonate #Questrade and #RBC and #wealthsimple

Looks like WealthSimple has increased the interest that they pay on their WealthSimple Cash account. It used to require you to have $100k deposited or invested with them in order to get 4%. 3% if you have your paycheques deposited with them.
Now you can get a minimum of 4% with no minimum balance & 4.5% if you have $100k deposited/invested with them.
