  1. Very definition of an #asshat - the monstrosity added by the Reverend Ike church to the otherwise beautiful #unitedpalace Loews 175th Street "Wonder Theatre" #WashingtonHeights

  2. It was a big loss for the neighborhood:

"Sometimes called Uptown City Hall, it became a staple of neighborhood life during its 35 years in operation—a place of safety and a bulwark against prejudice in a multi-ethnic, majority-immigrant community undergoing rapid change"

Opposite Billings Lawn somewhat north of Inspiration Point on the Empire State Trail roughly at GPS coordinates 40°51'36.3"N 73°56'07.6"W or 40.860078, -73.935440 there is a terribly narrow pinch point. 9A has three driving lanes AND immense breakdown lane. This construction is jeopardizing the safety of the bicyclists who have to share a two way path next to a light pole.

  4. There's been consideration to opening one or both of the currently closed tunnels beneath #WashingtonHeights (178th, 179th street) that serviced the #GeorgeWashingtonBridge before the #CrossBronxExpressway was built as #bikenyc tunnels. Would connect the east side greenway running along the Harlem River with the west side greenway at the #LittleRedLighthouse on the Hudson River.

    Do a light show too?

Plans in 2004 to reactivate to reduce vehicle congestion.

  5. I lived in #WashingtonHeights near the #GeorgeWashingtonBridge for a while. I loved that bridge and walked it often.

One time during my walk I saw a bald eagle perched on a strut of the bridge. I asked it out loud, "really? You're really going to be *that* American eagle hanging out on the *George Washington* Bridge? You don't think that's too on-the-nose?"

He didn't answer me, he just flew away, but I believe he knew what I was getting at and felt sufficiently called out on his bullshit.
