  1. This is the first year I’ve ever endorsed a Dem challenger in a #waleg race, but Im proud to be supporting Krista Perez for House in the 29th, and I’d love for you to meet her and see why for yourself. Join me on Monday for a great event at Stoup on Capital Hill secure.anedot.com/kristaperez/...

  4. The best sign in the world is the one that says Sine Die! It’s been a truly historic session and a pleasure to follow along with all of you! You can keep in touch at @[email protected] over the interim, and hopefully I’ll see you back here in November! #waleg

  5. Proving that anything can happen on Sine Die - we were just about to pass the Capital Budget and someone in the legislative building pulled the fire alarm. You can't make this stuff up. #waleg

  7. Data Center bill has passed. Now we're working on passing the Operating budget. Passing the budgets is the only thing the legislature *must* do every year, according to the state constitution. Ready to cast my vote! #waleg

  9. It's been a big day for milling -- the legislature's second favorite thing after passing laws. But now we're taking up HB 6231, which is an early sunsetting of tax exemptions for data centers. This bill is very necessary to implement the budget, so it has to be done before the budget passes #waleg

  11. We’re also honoring retiring State Rep Jenny Graham. #waleg

  12. Lovely moment for all of us as we honor retiring State Representative Steve Tharinger on the floor. Rep Tharinger is a real one, and he'll be sorely missed, especially by this slightly wild young legislator that he mentored. I always loved finding a way to make Steve laugh #waleg

  13. We’re doing concurrences on a bill about cannabis cooperatives, and Republican speaker says she doesn’t believe cannabis growth is agricultural production, but instead thinks it is drug production and that it’s offensive to call it agriculture because farmers don’t grow poison. Sine die! #waleg

  15. Bill passes! Go buy some direct sales Rivians and everyone go to bed! See you tomorrow for the very last day! #waleg

  16. Energy authority bill passes! Now we're on to SB 6354, which allows electric vehicle manufacturers like Rivian and Lucid to sell vehicles directly to consumers, a privilege that currently only Tesla enjoys (it's a long story). #waleg

  17. Many other states have transmission authorities and they help the state partner with all the players in the super complicated electrical generation and transmission world. Rep Ramel explains this will reduce costs, and expand access to energy #waleg

  19. Anyway back to electrical transmission. For a longtime we've partnered with the Bonneville Power Administration to ensure we are producing and moving electricity to where it's needed. But the BPA has been cut a ton by the Trump administration. So this new authority will help. #waleg

  21. How tired are we out here? Well, I can report there are only two cans of Lotus energy drink left in the House Members Cafeteria -- Blue and Green flavors. #waleg

  23. As we move to a more electrified future ensuring sufficient capacity to meet our needs. #waleg

  25. The bill passes! We're moving pretty quick because people see the chance to go to bed over the hill. We're passing SB 6355 which is actually kind of a big deal. It creates a publicly owned electrical transmission authority to help the state expand its electric transmission capacity #waleg

  27. The final amendment fails as well so we're on to final passage. #waleg

  28. The final amendment fails as well so we're on to final passage. #waleg

  29. Amendment fails. Next amendment sunsets the program in 2031. We are a no. #waleg

  30. Amendment fails. Next amendment sunsets the program in 2031. We are a no. #waleg

  31. Amendment fails. Next amendment says only businesses incorporated in the State of Washington could get Abortion Savings Grants (so not Planned Parenthood), and requires those organizations to comply with audits from the WA Auditor. #waleg

  33. Nice to know I can still yell after all those amendments yesterday. #waleg

  35. That amendment fails. The next amendment requires the Dept of Health to produce a report on this program annually. We are a no. #waleg

  39. This amendment prohibits people who reside outside of the state of Washington from receiving healthcare from organizations receiving Abortion Savings Program grants. We are a no. #waleg

  40. There are a bunch of amendments and they're all from Rep Marshall. As an added fun fact, Rep Marshall is the founder of the Washington State Three Percenters. #waleg

  41. Estate tax rollback passes. We're on SB 6182 which levies a tax on health carriers that provide coverage through health benefit exchanges to provide grants to support patient access to abortions. It prohibits this from being passed to individuals #waleg

  42. Rep Fitzgibbon speaking on the final bill. Notes that our estate tax currently is 35%, Hawaii is the next one with 20%. The change in this bill would make us tied for first instead of being way out at super first. #waleg

  43. I voted to support the amendment but it didn't hang. Democrats arguing it's not good for us to be such an outlier with estate tax rates. #waleg

  44. There's a Shaun Scott amendment that says that the estate tax break shouldn't start until we start collecting the millionaire's tax. #waleg

  45. Next up we're doing SB 6347, which addresses the estate tax. We significantly increased this last year, making us the highest in the nation, which isn't great cause we end up collecting nothing if well to do people move out of state before they die. This brings us back to the previous rate. #waleg

  46. I think it's safe to say that everyone on this floor is tired. We were all doing pretty well until about 9, but the wear and tear of yesterday's 25 straight hours of debate is hitting now. We all got good sleep last night, but not enough to make up for the night we lost. The work goes on #waleg

  47. Good evening.... it's Night Floor! It's 11:25 AM, we're doing a @[email protected] bill about the warehousing of prescription drugs, SB 6228. This bill is important for the operating budget having to do with loopholes for drug warehousing. #waleg

  48. For the budget nerds out there, the final budget bills are current "On the Bar" meaning you can read them: fiscal.wa.gov/statebudgets.... Budget bills must be on the bar (there's a literal wooden bar that the clerk sits behind in the chamber) for 24 hours before debate can begin. #waleg

  49. If we move quickly, we may just run up until midnight on Thursday and get everything done by then and leave on time. Time will tell! #waleg

  50. There is not a specific length of a special session. It could be just Friday or Saturday, it could be all of next week, it could be for months (it won't be for months). So far I have no idea if we will special session at all, but if we do I would bet it's just for a few days. #waleg
