I was able to publish another update to the #WaitWaitStatsPage (and the underlying Stats Library) that adds badges to guest, host, panelist and scorekeeper details that link their other appearances in other forms or roles.
For example: Tom Bodett as been a Not My Job guest, guest host, guest scorekeeper, and continues to be a panelist and his panelist details page has links to his other corresponding details pages.
By the way, the new retro/middle color theme is shown off in the screenshot 🙃

There have been a flurry of updates to the Wait Wait Stats Project.
I've published a new blog post summarizing them.
Wait Wait Stats Updates: Adding More Randomness

Versions 1 and 2 were hosted on a FreeBSD server at home and served off of a DSL connection. By the time development for version 3 started, I had migrated the site on to a VPS running FreeBSD (RIP, RootBSD).
Now, the site runs on Linux cloud instances.

I am happy to announce that version 6.0 of the Wait Wait Stats Page has been published! The big change compared to the previous version is replacing the Materialize frontend toolkit with Bootstrap 5.3.3.
At first, the change may not be that obvious, but there are some new features including choosing between light and dark mode (as well as auto, which uses the preferred color scheme set by your browser).

I made an educated guess on two of the three panelists on tonight's Wait Wait taping in Minneapolis based on website traffic and posted that on a different social.
They messaged me asking how the heck I knew 😂

Show must be over and I'm seeing another spike in traffic 😀
-
Wait Wait Don't Tell Me! is taping two shows in Minneapolis, MN (tonight and tomorrow night) and there is already a spike in traffic to my Wait Wait Stats Page from the Minneapolis/St. Paul area 😂

Just over 16 years ago, I was referred to as being a "merely devoted" fan of Wait Wait Don't Tell Me by Peter Sagal (the show's host).
I still think that I'm still slightly obsessive, as I stated at the top of the Stats Page for a while. 😅
-
Someone referenced my Wait Wait Stats Page as "this very nerdy website I just discovered" and I a-okay with that 😂
It's referenced in a footnote in this blog post:

I'm starting the arduous task of replacing Materialize CSS 1.2.2 with Bootstrap 5.3.3 in the Wait Wait Stats Page web app.
While the job is far from being done, it is nice to see the difference between the landing page with the old Materialize against the new Bootstrap.
In dark mode, the background color is now darker.
Text size has been increased almost across the board as well.

I'm borrowing the color palette from IBM's design language documentation and increasing the contrast between background and foreground colors (currently, it's not great).
I could have tried to create my own color palette, but IBM's color palette is pretty similar to what I'm currently using.
Plus, if I'm already using IBM Plex, why not go all the way? 😅

I've been playing around with migrating the Wait Wait Stats Page from Materialize to Bootstrap for the frontend toolkit.
Going from the major version of Materialize that I'm using to the latest major version requires a lot of effort to not be broken, plus additional work to theme it properly.
So, migrating to a toolkit that has more active development and a much more active community makes more sense.
Whee!

I decided to finally rename the "stats.wwdt.me_v5" repository to "stats.wwdt.me". This is in prep for the next major version of the release where I'll build a new frontend on top of an already decent foundation.
Probably doesn't matter to anyone, but just putting it out there if anyone is looking at the utter coding mess that it is.
-
Holy smokes! I just found out that my Wait Wait Stats project was included in the latest Data Is Plural newsletter!
-
I'm guessing that it's pure coincidence that I saw a spike of traffic to my Wait Wait Stats Page yesterday from people in and around the DC area and getting increased traffic for specific pages for the panelists and the guest scorekeeper, Chioke I'Anson.
That, or the site was mentioned at the show, either before or after, given the two large spikes in traffic at 7 PM EDT and 11 PM EDT.
I'll probably say that it's coincidence.
🤷🏼🤷🏼 🤷🏼

On Christmas, I published new versions of the Wait Wait Stats Library, Stats API, and Stats Page to add support for multiple Bluff the Listener-like segments that were common during the show's first year.
I've published a blog post with additional details on the changes and links to each project's release notes.

@dmnelson I think it's more of a large piece of nostalgia in that I hosted the very first version of the #WaitWaitStatsPage from one of those. But, it's not a practical machine to have and I would be better off using that money towards a portable 68k Mac of some kind.

@Aminorjourney If I had the means and opportunity of hosting my own stuff at home, including my #WaitWait stuff, I would absolutely go for it.
In fact, for the first few years, I hosted the #WaitWaitStatsPage off of a Compaq iPad desktop running FreeBSD on a DSL connection that provided 8 public IPs. I had everything behind a Cisco PIX 501 firewall to keep things a little less jank.
That said, I don't know what I want to do with my personal mail server. It's out on a cloud provider that's no longer supporting FreeBSD. So, I'm stuck at FreeBSD 12 until I can migrate that to another Debian or Ubuntu server; or, give up and go with an e-mail provider. It's not that I don't want to manage my own mail server (and thus control my own data); but, I no longer have the time or energy to do so.

Spent most of today completely reworking/revamping the print media formatting and styles for the Wait Wait Stats Page.
This has been in the backlog for some time and I think the results look pretty darn good. Gone are the gobs of wasted whitespace. The printed version now looks closer to the actual page when viewed on a desktop (sans navigation and menus).
The update will be going live in production in a little while at https://stats.wwdt.me
