  1. Fellow #vmstio :vmstio: users, I know this is annoying, but I've just made a couple more changes to try and get around site assets not loading today.

If you have this issue, and clear your browser cache.

  2. RE: mastodon.social/@Mastodon/1163

Collections are live for #vmstio :vmstio: members. Check out the first one featuring your Administrator Dream Team vmst.io/collections/1163762829

  3. Since launching #vmstio :vmstio: subscriptions in 2022, we’ve used Patreon, Ko-Fi, and (briefly) Open Collective. Managing multiple platforms has made automating supporter benefits harder to deliver reliably.

To simplify, we’re shifting focus to Ko-Fi for monthly subscriptions, where support is already 3:1 over Patreon and fees are much much lower. (Patreon eats almost 25% of our lowest tier.)

As of April 1, no new Patreon subscriptions will be accepted. Existing Patreon memberships will continue for now, but I would highly encourage you to move over to continue your support.

  4. RE: vmst.io/@iostat/11628034939089

For any #vmstio :vmstio: folks who had issues posting links this morning (error 500) there should be a workaround in place.

If not, please let me know if you see that specific error again.

  5. #vmstio :vmstio: availability took a hit today, but now that things have stabilized:

    - we now have full IPv6 support
    - we have restored full HTTP/2 support, and added support for QUIC (HTTP/3)

Side note: when manually set your DNS TTL to 30 and your automation sets it up to 3600 and then changes your IP addresses to load balancers that aren’t fully configured without you knowing, you’re gonna have a bad time.

  6. For anyone who likes to watch Mastodon server patch status in near real-time, the #vmstio :vmstio: vmcrawl dashboard is now public (without needing authentication) for all your version tracking pleasures docs.vmst.io/vmcrawl

  7. Mastodon admins, prepare yourselves, 4.1.6 is coming github.com/mastodon/mastodon/p

Also, rumor has it a proper 4.2.0 beta release is coming this week too.

#vmstio members are so far beyond beta you don't even need to worry about it. #BleedingEdge

  8. Not a fan of the default Mastodon UI? Did you know #vmstio has multiple client options available?

We offer Elephant (aka Bird UI) as a theme directly at vmst.io. You can find instructions on how to enable Elephant at docs.vmst.io/flings/elephant

We offer Elk at elk.vmst.io, with a similar look and feel but additional features and functionality.

Finally we have Semaphore at semaphore.vmst.io as a dedicated client focused on accessibility.

  9. Just rolled out a couple backend changes to how media is processed on uploads to #vmstio

Hopefully it doesn’t mess things up too badly today. #FridayDeploy

  10. Just pushed a recent update to Mastodon that merges "Local" and "Federate" tabs in the navigation sidebar into "Live feeds" where Local, Remote and All become options under that.

I think this is a good change, that is less confusing overall.

#vmstio might be the only place running this in production right now since the changes were committed to the project ... 26 minutes ago #BleedingEdge
