Mooi staaltje ecologie: op de boswilg zitten plakkaten kameel luizen en de wespen komen het zoete uitscheiding sap van de luizen oplikken. Alle soorten wespen tegelijk zie je nu mooi.

Another #wasp encounter in #Bochum, Germany: this time the clypeus clearly gave it away as a #Vespula vulgaris (common wasp, Gemeine Wespe) as confirmed by a wasp expert - who also thinks that the one before in the thread had also been one. Thus the same species, but the abdomen pattern varies a lot! Next time you see a wasp, don't chase it away - enjoy #Nature's beauty instead. #insects

This afternoon, I found an busy wasp nest right by the walking track through Ernle Clark Reserve in Ōtautahi-Christchurch, NZ.

(It's along the river northeast of Barrington Street, on the south side of the track, if you walk there.)

I've reported it on #SnapSendSolve so the council can deal with it.

Good morning friends! On Sunday I found this incredible wintry scene that makes you wonder wtf happened?! This #Vespula maculifrons (Eastern #Yellowjacket ) seems to have gotten frozen mid-chomp on #Daedaleopsis confragosa (Thin-walled Maze #Polypore ).
