I just watched White Christmas while making dinner. I'm not a Christmas guy but I really enjoyed it. I know movies from that era are a different time and they don't always age well but this one is wonderful.
How is it I don't know more about Vera Ellen?
Anyway, yeah it's sentimental and schmaltzy and all that other stuff but I recommend it.

Watch two of my favorite dancers, Vera-Ellen and Donald O'Connor, from the 1953 musical Call Me Madam.
This is my favorite dance scene in the movie. I love it for a many reasons, Vera-Ellen's costume, her interplay with Donald O'Connor, but also for the way that she looks into the camera that makes you think she is looking right at you.
