I feed our rats many different food— fresh berries, fruits and greens; cooked veggies, grains, legumes—pretty much what we eat everyday.
To supplement vitB12, I started making wheat cereal cakes with almond milk and flaxseed meal every morning. -
I’ve always mixed a teeny pinch of matcha green tea in our companion rats’ breakfast. 🌾🍵🐀🐁✨

*I must find and read this study*
It’s a curse and blessing at the same time that many nutritional studies are done on rodents. I bow to serve the knowledge for the sake of pet rats.

I know that, but to put this info into practice is another story. (When your ratties beg for snacks, impossible to say no😭) Thus, I stick with PlantBased food which is naturally low in calories.
Our longest-lived rattie, Lil Marty never ever over-ate. He also didn’t touch human junk food. He never got sick.

Lil Marty used to collect the tiny gift boxes with a cornflake in each and diligently took them to his RatManor to have them later. Since the litter tray accident which got his right foot hurt (now healed and he can trot again), he’s been opening the box to eat the cornflake right away. Looks like he realized it’s important to savor the moment, and more importantly his favorite treat. 🥹🥰🐀✨❣️

Our #CompanionRats eat plantBased wholeFoods I cook for them, mainly whole grains and lentils. They also get a hefty servings of fresh fruits, organic berries and greens. Their lives are so short, I want to extend their healthy, active life as much as possible. Hence, the #veganRats. I supplement vitaminB12 in their breakfast cereal balls I make every day. They eat better than most of us.
