I know that, but to put this info into practice is another story. (When your ratties beg for snacks, impossible to say no😭) Thus, I stick with PlantBased food which is naturally low in calories.
Our longest-lived rattie, Lil Marty never ever over-ate. He also didn’t touch human junk food. He never got sick.

Once our Marty achieved “down,” there was no stopping him. From that moment on, he was set to explore every surface in the rat room. He was neophile, somehow knew he was safe in his surroundings.

CW: 3 years and 2 months, no small feat for a rattie 🥲
Our darling Lil Marty quietly took his last breath in his sleep early this morning. He’s been such a wonderful and amazing rattie. He’ll be forever with me in my heart or in my mind. Thank you for cheering for him. He loved you all. 🫶💟💜✨

Time flew! I still remember Marty being the little fur ball that fit in my hand like it was yesterday. I had to feed him every four hours then too. lol -

Yesterday, our darling little rattie slept the entire day in the bottom corner of the lower level of his RatManor, and only got up to eat and potty. And my overthinking mind went to worry—*Is Marty not able to go up to his 3 other beds upstairs?*
Marty is fine. Came out to play as his usual self after supper.
He just turned three in the mid September. He’s still active, though slowed down a bit. He’s oh so sweet, such a gift. 🥰💞🐀💕
