  1. I'm working on building the #Xorg server #XWin natively on #Windows using #MinGW. I have a 32 bit version that works fine and I'm attempting to get a 64 bit version built. I know there are a few other projects like #XMing and #VcXsrv that also have native builds of the Xorg server. I need XWin for work where I'm limited to using a Windows machine and trying to Xforward information to it. Is anyone else using XWin or interested in using an X server on Windows? #AskFedi

  5. Using remote X11 with SSH forwarding, X server VcXsrv running on Windows, clients are running on a Debian 12.1 system. Plain xlib (xterm!) works, things using old libsdl1.2 work, but anything using libsdl2.0 fails with No available displays... Am I expecting too much?

  9. Ok, wenn man einmal #SmarTTY sysprogs.com/SmarTTY/portable/ 'A multi-tabbed SSH client with SCP support' gestartet hat, will man die manuelle Nutzung von #XMing und #VcXsrv #Winscp #putty nicht mehr

  14. Endlich mal n #XServer unter Windows ausprobiert. #mobaxterm (in der Home Edition) ist natürlich die bessere Alternative, aber es tut auch ein #vcxsrv mit entsprechender #xlaunch Konfiguration

  17. And actually last week-end I installed it on #WSL2 without realising it was already available and enabled. I assumed since I could connect #WSL was already forwarding connections to the host, spent an hour trying to find why #VcXsrv was messing up with my keyboard mapping when I realized I was using Windows's own X Server. Strange how their solution doesn't even work as well as something that's been there for years.
