Making an online database of *people* and their *content / opinions*, need to be carefully considered. I'm neither for not against such a software in particular, I see both sides, but each side hating on the other one gets us nowhere. We need to recognize each sides needs, talk them out in detail and need to verify that what is build is indeed something thats sustainable, not another blind attempt on getting the other side(s) to agree to "our" vision. Tootfinder for example is an pice of software that follows this carefull considerations, you yourself need to enable it, nobody can besides you. And there's no special or complicated verification happening; you add an sentence, an keyphrase to your bio and thats it, you're opted-in to it. There's no wiggleroom, no "exceptions", no "what-if"'s. It's clearly documented on the first page you visit of it, made completly clear how it works, that nobody is being forced or otherwise taken advantage off.
This is how it's done right. Not hating on someones software without explaining in detail why something is problematic, and more importantly, how the core idea can be preserved while reducing the amount of surface for attacks, or even better, how to eliminate the threats outright. Like fedifinder, a simple opt-in on a technical level would be enough for starters, no human interactions needed, and then be expanded through talking and building from there.
Please, I want an *thiving community of actual people* not an competition about fame, not people hating on each other for testing out new things, not an drama where everyone just believes some half-backed "conclusions" of someone that's clearly one of the sources of said drama, but open-mindness, a ciritcal mind to look behind the curtains, to *understand* people. To help people be a greater self, to help them evolve in both mind, skill and everything else. We're *one fediverse*, we once stand for uniting people, for *listening* to people, for actually talking *with* each other rather than *at* each other, for giving a helping hand to strangers in deperate need. Let's be that again, espc in a world that moves more into the oposite with each day. #UniteFediverse #HelpEachOther #UnderstandEachother #FediverseAgainstHate
