I really do appreciate your attention whenever I get it, and I strive to make it valuable or at least entertaining. I am not an easy read. My #unfollow rate is testament to that. I will step on a lot of toes. Anything, anything at all, that is in the path blocking #human #rights gets stepped on.

Maybe just one more before I get caught up. I think people follow #MissKitty and don't leave, although I have a high #unfollow rate I think, cuz they can count on facts even if they don't like the delivery. #Facts matter. There are #limits to what you can do on the system at one time. I still have 300 people to #follow and about 14,000 to #unfollow. I will finish the following in an hour or two. #MissKitty has gone past those limits in the past LOL and had usage #suspensions. I work to avoid that! LOL

#MissKittyRaw Okay know this #AI #troll people. I did my experiment & I will now #unfollow & #block all mouthy robots. I gave one a chance & paid attention & it started to get mouthy as they always do. They think they know something cuz of the idiots that made them. Programming matters.

I also do clean up on #accounts that come in #trolling me as a bigger account to help blow them up and they #unfollow me after I #follow them. I particularly love to go & #unfollow those clowns. There are some accounts frozen in place that will not be #unfollowed regardless. Not too many.

I’ve been in this hobby for 30+ years now. And since I am an early adopter of the internet I followed some creators for a very long time.

But things are changing fast and some things I cannot tolerate any longer. And that is the use of AI/LLM for creating pictures. [No, you’re not creating art you tell a machine to slop together pixels]

Why can I not tolerate this? For two main reasons (possibly more but I don’t think i need to get into more detail on this)

1. Picture generating AIs are trained on stolen material. Full stop. End of line. If you don’t understand why using stolen goods to your advantage is wrong then I can’t help you.
2. Every generated picture (and I mean every iteration of your prompt slop and not just the one you put into your project or on your video thumbnail) has a massive environmental impact. If you want to read more about it go here.

So what is hurting me? The simple fact that I started to unfollow, unsubscribe and to even block people on the basis of their careless use of AI.

„But I can’t create these pictures myself!“ – have you even tried? And why must your thumbnail be in Studio Ghibli style? Just try it. Learn a new skill. Will it be perfect? Hell no. But it will be yours. Own your art.

AI has it’s use cases and has some pretty interesting fields to be used in. But creating thumbnails for your videos ain’t one.

Most people reading this probably won’t care and that’s fine. Everyone has to draw a line for themselves somewhere. Mine is here.  Thank you for reading.

En cette fin d'année, n'hésitez pas à prendre le temps de réévaluer vos idoles/mentors. Ce n'est pas parce que ces personnes vous ont inspirés/aidés à un moment de votre vie que vous leurs êtes redevables ad vitam. Si vous n’êtes plus en adéquation avec leurs discours actuels, vous pouvez unfollow sans regrets. Elle n'ont pas gagné de passe-droit parce qu'elle étaient éloquente sur un sujet.

I have been trying a new way to use #Mastodon / #Fediverse for a week or so now.

What I do is, a few times a day, when I see a name / user go by in my timeline that I don't recognize, if their post is even a tiny bit in my wheelhouse, I follow them.

Sometimes, after a couple of days, I realize they're not frequently posting things that engage me (which is fine!), and I un-follow them.

But mostly, it's great. Either they're posting interesting things I wouldn't have seen otherwise, or they're boosting such, giving me stuff to follow that I wouldn't have found on my own.

("Duh, that's how you're supposed to use fedi" replies unnecessary.)
