More than 35,000 customers are currently being affected by unplanned power cuts across Ireland and the UK. Including planned cuts brings the total to just under 40,000 customers.
The majority of cuts are in the Republic of Ireland and south-western England.
Statistical analysis reveals a clear correlation between peak recorded wind gusts and the number of power cuts reported per hour.

There are now around 25,000 customers without power across Ireland and the UK, with around half of these being located in Cornwall and South Wales.

Numerous power outages are being reported across Cornwall and a number across Ireland. In total around 15,000 people are without power at breakfast time in the UK and Ireland.
