It's original intent was well-meaning: Prevent apps from messing with user defaults, like the browser or installing unwanted extensions or toolbars.
Linux doesn't have any of this, AFAIK. Malicious software could change all sorts of user defaults. This could become a real problem with its growing popularity. 🤔

UCLA PD along with LAPD and LASD just arrested more than 40 people including faculty , legal observers, and at least three local journalists and charged them with conspiracy to commit burglary. This daily bruin story has the first part of it and the rest is from Twitter. This was in response to a planned demonstration on campus this morning.
