Cops believe a US military member who lived in a housing complex in the area left behind a cache of military grade explosives in a garage storage locker.
This soldier had moved out years ago but may have left behind the explosives.

The #LosAngelesCounty Sheriff Civilian Oversight Commission (Commission) is inviting members of the public to fill out a brief online survey about their interactions with deputies they believe to be members of deputy gangs within the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) and to offer their feedback. Responses will be accepted through July 15, 2025.

LA Metro will vote tomorrow on creating their own police force rather than contracting with LAPD and LASD as they currently do and here's the LA Times editorializing in favor of this absolutely gross plan. This editorial is chock full of lies about safety, declining ridership, etc. Obviously this plan is about harassing the homeless, the poor, and other vulnerable populations, because that's what the cops do now. These people have never ridden a damn bus.

LOS ANGELES, CA- Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced today that former Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy Sean Essex was sentenced to 40 years in state prison by Judge George Gonzalez Lomeli, after he pled no contest to sexually abusing four girls who were between the ages of 4 and 13. One victim was abused in 2006, while three victims were abused between 2013 and 2022. Essex also is required to register as a sex offender.

Six years ago, a plumber found the decomposing body of Raymundo Rivera inside a pillar at a Winco supermarket in Lancaster. At the time, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials said the 35-year-old appeared to have fled during a traffic stop and may have “gotten inside there and gotten down to try and hide from the deputies and then couldn’t get out.”
But according to a lawsuit filed Wednesday in L.A. Superior Court, former Deputy Aaron Tanner later boasted that he and other deputies had chased Rivera — and that they knew he’d fallen into the pillar. Instead of trying to save him, the suit says, “the deputies left him there to die, and made false reports that they lost track of the suspect in the pursuit.”

In addition to raising a litany of other claims about Tanner — including an on-duty incident in which he allegedly cut off a dead horse’s leg — the suit also describes repeated misconduct involving other members of the [LASD gang called the] Rattlesnakes.

UCLA PD along with LAPD and LASD just arrested more than 40 people including faculty , legal observers, and at least three local journalists and charged them with conspiracy to commit burglary. Today LASD posted the 18th in-custody death for this year, a 32-year-old who died in his cell in the 2800 floor of Men's Central Jail -- the facility that was at one point scheduled for closure earlier this year.

The names of the 35 deputies have not been released to the public, but Inspector General Max Huntsman said they were a subset of the 41 deputies identified as suspected gang members last year.

NEW: Inspector General Max Huntsman sent letters to 35 deputies Friday, directing them to come in and identify members of the Banditos and Executioners deputy gangs. Deputies must answer, unless they fear self incrimination, Huntsman said.
