Abgesagte Stationierung von US-Raketen: Kampagne sieht große Chance für Rüstungskontrolle
Die Kampagne „Friedensfähig statt erstschlagfähig. Für ein Europa ohne Mittelstreckenwaffen!“ begrüßt die Ankündigung von US-Präsident Donald Trump, keine Tomahawk-Marschflugkörper in Deutschland zu stationieren. Nach Einschätzung des Bündnisses bietet sich jetzt die Chance für neue Fortschritte in der Rüstungskontrolle. Die Bundesregierung müsse diese nutzen.
Die Pläne zur Stationierung US-amerikanischer Mittelstreckenwaffen in Deutschland waren vor rund zwei Jahren bekannt geworden und hatten bundesweit Proteste ausgelöst. Mit seiner Ankündigung, einen Teil der US-Truppen aus Deutschland abzuziehen, hat Trump nun am vergangenen Wochenende auch die Stationierung der Waffen in Deutschland abgesagt.
Bestärkt durch diese Entwicklung ruft die Kampagne für den 30. Mai 2026 gemeinsam mit einem breiten Bündnis zu Protesten unter dem Motto „Keine Mittelstreckenwaffen – nirgends!“ in Wiesbaden und Grafenwöhr auf, um Druck für neue Abrüstungsinitiativen zu machen.
Absage der Stationierung ist eine gute Nachricht
„Die Absage der Stationierung neuer US-Mittelstreckenwaffen in Deutschland ist eine gute Nachricht für die Sicherheit in Europa!“, sagt Simon Bödecker, Referent von Ohne Rüstung Leben und Sprecher der Kampagne. „Landgestützte Mittelstreckenwaffen sind darauf ausgelegt, strategische Ziele in sehr kurzer Zeit anzugreifen. Sie wirken destabilisierend, führen zu einem Klima der ständigen Unsicherheit und hätten Deutschland zu einem potenziellen Ziel russischer Präventivschläge gemacht.“
