@reed I've tried #trello and I honestly didn't like the UI. I used #notion and it was too much for what I wanted and the app was clunky. I then used #emacs which is awesome but I wanted to be able to easily manage tasks from my phone and I couldn't find a good workflow.

#todoist is what I like using now. It can be as simple or complex as you want it to be. I really like the UI. It has good keyboard shortcuts. I highly recommend it. It has some useful AI features like breaking down a task into sub tasks. I haven't used it because it's not available on the phone app, and I rarely use the desktop app or the website. It also has this killer feature called Ramble where you can just keep talking to it and it'll create tasks. You can also take bulk actions on those tasks in the same ramble and say things like, "label all of them as work" or "set the due date to Saturday for the last task that was added". It's pretty cool.

Looks like #Pikapods has a new #Todoist alternative, #Vikunja. Have been wanting a self-hosted task manager for ages, might check it out.

Although I have moved a lot of my stuff off of Pikapods to my own VPS or home server, I still like being able to try things easily via Pikapods without the struggle of initial setup.

Libres autoalojadas, he probado Tududi y Tasktrove, pero lo de repetir tareas unos días concretos a la semana, no lo llevan bien y le falta maduración. Así que con la aplicación de #Apple voy más que servido.

Dopo più di otto anni ho salutato #Todoist. È stato un ottimo servizio e per me molto utile, ma le recenti decisioni relative al prezzo mi hanno lasciato con queste due opzioni parimenti antipatiche:

1. Continuare a pagare per un servizio che non avrebbe più ricevuto tutti gli aggiornamenti;
2. Accettare un aumento di prezzo di più del 100% (nel mio caso), ingiustificato per l’uso che faccio del software.

Quindi ho preso la terza via: salutarli. Per ora sono su #TickTick, poi si vedrà.

@informatik Suche nach Ersatz für #todoist, selbst gehostet, EndeZuEnde verschlüsselt, mit Desktop app für Linux, android app und android widget. Leider scheitert es bei allen mir bekannten Tools an einer Kombi fehlender Funktionen.

@dde Ich versuche auch von #todoist loszukommen und habe einen Blick auf #vikunja geworfen. Leider hat der iOS-Client keine offline-Fähigkeit und lädt bei jedem Aufruf aus dem Netz. Ist das unter Android besser?

@viharm Thanks, that's nice information. Same use case here. Need apps for linux, macOS, iOS, android (that is, /e/OS). Needs to be easy enough to use that the family actually bothers to use it for groceries and such. Preferably open source and self-host on the synology, but that's more of a bonus. First priority is that it just works right now. #Vikunja looks promising and I'll definitely look into hosting it myself. Did you try to host Vikunja? But #todoist appears to be the obvious out-of-the-box solution.

Szybki status update: wygląda na to, że bardzo ciężko będzie zastąpić #Todoist, jeśli w ogóle. W międzyczasie zacząłem testować #Notesnook i jestem pozytywnie zaskoczony. Na razie mam free trial przez 2 tygodnie a potem być może się skuszę na podstawowy plan za ok 90 PLN / rok. Fajnie, że można publikować notatki 'na zewnątrz' za pomocą #Monograph. Mogę w ten sposób łatwo udostępniać handouty na zajęcia. Można też tworzyć listy zadań i przypomnienia ale nijak się to ma do funkcji, które znam z Todoist. Krótko mówiąc: do notatek TAK, do zadań NIEkoniecznie.

Słuchajcie, mam taką zagwozdkę: czy jakakolwiek aplikacja do notatek (np. #Joplin, #Notesnook) będzie w stanie zastąpić mi listę zadań? Od kilku lat używam #Todoist i do tej pory nie znalazłem lepszej usługi. Takim must-have dla mnie są powiadomienia do zadań oraz zadania powtarzające się (recurring tasks). Pomożecie?

@FreitagsFrage Zum Sortieren nutze ich Ansätze aus #gettingthingsdone, also kategorisieren und in einem priorisieren. Ich habe eine 1/3/5 Regel: Arbeiten kann ich nur an einer Aufgabe, Dringend sind maximal 3, Wichtig maximal 5. Um das zu erreichen priorisiere ich zyklisch neu. Das nutze ich privat und im Job und wende es auf Mailclients / Posteingang genauso an, wie auf Projektmanagementwerkzeug und Todoliste.

Das Kommando-Menü (STRG + K oder "/") hat den neuen Punkt "Laufende und anstehende Aufgaben" erhalten.
Dort werden alle Tasks aufgeführt, die innerhalb der letzten 10 Minuten fällig waren bzw. in den kommenden 10 Minuten fällig sind.

Das Menü kann in allen Bereichen eingeblendet werden (Projekte, Ansichten, Bearbeitungen, Filter und Etiketten usw.).

- vikunja
- nextcloud tasks + nextcloud desk
- google calendar + google tasks.

I have been testing nextcloud + tasks.org as a replacement for todoist for several hours.

Everything is fine and dandy, but there is a problem with recuriing tasks.

nextcloud on front does not support this, but from tasks.org you can create it as a recurring task. the problem is that these events in nextcloud are... treated as tasks and when I mark them as completed, they... no longer repeat themselves.

anyone have any solutions??

I really would like to use simple no-bullshit tools that do their job effectively. Best examples are #todo applications. I've used #Wunderlist, which allowed me to change background (why?), but hat problems with synchronizing. Currently I am using #Todoist, which comes with lots of additional stuff I don't like, for example a productivity feature or "intelligent" text recognition instead of just a date picker.

Meine Versuche #todoist durch eine #foss Lösung "aus einem Guss" zu ersetzen, waren nicht erfolgreich. #joplin ist kein Ersatz, es fehlt im Detail sowohl auf Desktop, als auch smartphone an Funktionalität. Das gilt auch für die vielen #opensource #Taskplaner.

Mein neuer Ansatz:

• Mailpostfach mit Kalender & Aufgaben (DSGVO konform & verschlüsselt)
• caldav für #Synchronisation
• #Evolution auf dem Desktop
• #OXTasks & #simplecalendar auf dem phone incl. widgets

Läuft gut, ist aber komplex.

Vor dem Verkauf von "Wunderlist" an MS wurde die Todo-App von vielen gerne genutzt.
Heute ist "Superlist 1.0" erschienen - sieht recht interessant aus. Denke zwar nicht, dass ich Todoist untreu werde - aber ausprobieren kann man es ja mal ...
