Why aren’t universities hosting Mastodon instances? Back in the day, that is who was hosting #usenet and #MOO#TinyMOO#MUCK and #IRC and stuff. Why not mastodon.utexas.edu or mstdn.ucsb.edu or masto.mit.edu? Instances would have instant affinity group.
