I've been working on an open-source thermostat that supports Matter over Thread, as well as over Ethernet (and any number of other ways of controlling it).
Just to test the waters a bit, would anyone be interested in such a thing?

@adrian Das #Thermostat ist wohl das am meisten falsch bediente Gerät (meine Meinung). Viele brauchen es als Ein oder Aus Schalter.

Ich habe vor einiger Zeit unser Haus erst mit shellys und dann später teilweise mit sonoff Thermostaten bestückt und dann per #homeassistant smart gemacht, um Brennstoff zu sparen wo es geht. Von den 10 verbauten Thermostaten haben 4 trotz mehrfacher Kalibrierung nicht sauber geschlossen und ich habe am Ende deutlich mehr verbraucht also ohne die smarten Geräte. Also alles zuruck und warten, bis die Geräte zuverlässig werden

Wie ein neuer Beitrag im #IKEA #Tradfri-#Subreddit zeigt, scheint es erste Hinweise darauf zu geben, dass das #SmartHome-Ökosystem des schwedischen Möbelhauses in Zukunft bald ein eigenes neues #Thermostat aufweist. Ein #Reddit-User berichtet dort, dass es zu seiner Überraschung möglich war, Thermostate vom Hersteller Eve zu seinem #IKEADirigera-#Hub hinzuzufügen, und fand in diesem Zusammenhang auch ein Thermostat von IKEA.

We're getting close to releasing a maintenance update. No functional changes, but it will extend the security updates for another two years.
There's more testing to do, but hopefully that will go smoothly.
I hope to have another update out soon after that, which will be the same deal: no functional changes, but yet ANOTHER two years of security patches!
When I say long term support, I mean it!

I replaced my house's HVAC thermostat cable with one that has more wires in it (5 wire cable replaced with 8 wire), so I could connect the "C" wire and supply power to the thermostat. It only needs 6 wires for that, but since I'm pulling a new cable, might as well have some extra wires for future use.
I tried to use the old cable to pull the new cable, but I messed up and ended up having to pull the new cable without a guide. I wasn't able to do it on my own, but a fox friend came by to help and we got it done pretty quickly.
So now that the thermostat gets AC power and doesn't need batteries, the LCD screen's backlight stays on (dimly) all the time, which I like. And maybe I'll get a thermostat that can integrate with Home Assistant—one that works locally without any cloud requirement. Considering the Venstar T2000, but I haven't researched it too much yet.

Thermostat at 62°f (16°c) but the temperature is 76°f (24°c) and *the radiator is still pumping out heat like crazy*. Meanwhile the temperature outside is literally freezing (32/0). What the hell is going on?
It's like there's no connection between the thermostat setting and the actual action of the heating system. I go to sleep with the thermostat turned way down and the heat blasting, but when I wake up half the time the temperature is down to around 65°f. But the other half of the time it's in the high 70s and I'm sweating to death.
I'm getting really aggravated by this.
