This led me to look up where I'd originally heard the "I don't know why they call it a 'wireless' - I've never seen so many wires in my life" gag which I'm certain was in a BBC radio show of the 1950s (or earlier?), with no success. However, I did discover that (the poor-man's Ned Sherrin) Julian Fellowes had regurgitated it recently in an episode of #DowntonAbbey #ThereAreNoNewJokes 🙄
