Prince Vijaya's (the first Siṅhalese king's) ancestry came from Vaṅga and Kalinga (present-day Bangla/Bengal and Odisha). But, the Siṅhalese apparently feel no desire or duty to reintegrate with or protect the Theravāda communities near Kolkata, Chittagong, etc. Why?
