“The Invite” is amazing. I haven’t laughed so hard at a movie in the theater this year. Right up to the point where I wasn’t laughing, but it completely earned that tonal shift.

Four great performances, with a lot of it relying on subtle reactions and facial expressions. (Fine, Fight Club Guy was less memorable than the other three, but I think that’s just that the movie gave him less to do.)

Great camera work, too, especially the way the camera moves from face to face to capture those performances.

Dear Hollywood: I imagine that movie cost less than 1/10 of a star war, and I’d rather have 10 more of those than one star war, please.

I watched The Invite yesterday. It's a really good movie. It's a comedy/drama and it's very funny, very well acted. Highly recommended.

I watched Backrooms a week or two ago. It was just OK, IMO. It was clever in a few ways, but ultimately boring for a lot of the runtime. I guess someone saw the parts of Severance where they are walking through endless hallways and decided that people wanted a whole movie about that, but slightly creepier.
