More on inspiration--What horror writer doesn’t look to Stephen King as a source of inspiration? I’ll confess that I haven’t read every morsel of his making, and I can’t say that I enjoy every work that I have read, but there are certain works that have definitely left an impression on me. Before reading the epic Dark Tower series I already had my own thoughts on a string of worlds strewn together across a multiverse, but the series was a great different take on bringing together different dimensions. The Gunslinger starts off with a slow burn that stretches out into an intricate web with The Drawing of The Three and onward. It’s also a wonderful genre blender, with its cowboy and magical tropes sifted through the lens of a collapsing world. Dreamcatcher is another magical book to me, with a mental battle that I’ll always think about.

Dark Tower: The Gunslinger in water colours
Tried my hand at a fairly #monochrome water colour #painting as a practice for #huevember, and as an example for an upcoming experiment: painting with tea.
Ended up using two different colours though, rather than one: #Panduro's #YellowOchre and #BurntUmber.
Three different brushes: a number 12 round brush from #SøstreneGrene, a number 2 flat brush from #GreneArt, and a number 2 round brush probably, though I'm not sure as it had no markings on it.
Painted on 230 grams acid-free A5 watercolour paper from Søstrene Grene.Painted after the example of #SteveStone's original cover art: https://shop.suntup.press/products/the-dark-tower-i-the-gunslinger-fine-art-print

CW: Dark Tower spoiler
I also feel like #IdrisElba got shortchanged by #RolandDeschain basically being relegated to supporting character to #JakeChambers, rather than main protagonist.
I do like the idea that this is supposedly set after the books, on #TheGunslinger's next iteration of the #TimeLoop he's in, since he's carrying the #HornOfEld.
Maybe there will be redemption for his this time around, as he'll hopefully sooner learn to value his friends and life more than his quest for #TheManInBlack.
