Slowly getting back into aquarelle painting again.
Two evenings ago I painted this wintery scene based on a photograph I took in #Bodø just under 3 years ago, around 9 in the morning.
Quite satisfied with how it turned out, especially the sun coming up from behind the mountains, though less so with the recognisability of the mountains.

Paper: 230 grams A5 paper from Søstrene Grene, 100% paper.
Paint: a mix of Panduro Watercolour Set Basic, Van Gogh Water Colour, Daniel Smith Hansa Yellow Light, and some white gouache.

Did a quick #aquarelle #painting this evening on some #A5 #watercolour paper from #SøstreneGrene.
Some cauliflower blooms from overworking it, but overall I'm satisfied with the end results.
A bit of a warmer image to contrast the cold winter weather that's prevalent on these short dark December days.

Soul shade

We got a set of #NassauFineArt #AquarelBrushMarkers from an offer at our local #Rusta the other day, so after some experimenting last night to get a bit more used to this weird medium that's not quite markers and not quite water colour paint, I ended making this quick sketch with them.

I started off with the tree as I wanted to play around a bit with greens, and then decided I wanted to turn the pink spot in the top right corner that was leftover from last night's blending tests, into a pink and blue sky.
Filled up the remaining whitespace with a yellow beach.

Not quite sure if these #waterColourBrushMarkers are really for me, but I do like how the sky turned out.

I can certainly see their appeal, especially on the go, as they require far less setting up. Basically just need a surface, a drawing pad, and some water to fill up your water brush reservoir.

While I at first wanted to try my hand at doing my impression of Don Rosa's cover for "Music Inspired By The Life And Times Of Scrooge McDuck", imposter syndrome set in, so instead I decided to try my hand at redoing one of the first #paintings that got me back into painting, almost a year ago; my Rainbow maelstrøm painting on July 2nd of 2021.

There are certainly things I will do differently the next time I iterate on it, such as trying to better plan where the spirals meet to prevent muddying colours, but I don't want to feed my #imposterSyndrome.

So, instead I'll just say that I'm satisfied with how it turned out, and if it dries up as intended, I'll consider it an improvement over my original. :)

A Clouded Mind's Struggle for Balance

Did some more painting for a change tonight, finally trying out the A4-sized pad of aquarel paper I bought at Rusta last week. For its cheap price, it's remarkably decent actually.
