  1. @mythology @pagan Today is 7 Thargelion, the birthday of #Apollon and second day of the #Thargelia festival in ancient #Athens. On the 7th, good things were invited in. A special offering was made to Apollon as guardian of the crops. This is the thargelos, a first-fruits offering of the earliest harvest, made by boiling grains and other vegetables in a pot. In modern times, offer some of the first-fruits of your region to Apollon, make a festive meal of them and enjoy the food.

  6. Today is 6 Thargelion, the birthday of #Artemis and start of the #Thargelia festival in ancient #Athens. On the 6th, bad things are driven out for purification. The Thargelia seems to have been all about protecting the harvest from ruin by excessive heat or pestilence. In modern times, it's a great opportunity to purify yourself by bathing and the house by cleaning and getting rid of trash and spoiled food.
