Christianity has stolen who we truly are.

In the name of their supposedly loving god, they enslaved and murdered our ancestors. They co-opted our sacred days and our sacred spaces. And they erased our goddesses and our gods, brainwashing later generations who have bought the lie that the Christianity is our heritage.

But… it never was. It never has been.

Fk, my personal pantheon is Selene/Selune, Lilith, Pikovaya Dama, and Hecate among others. I'm pretty sure the only patriarchy stuffs we're doing together is burning it down.

It is strange to get a snippet of insight or some small foretelling or a casual cledon regarding current events far beyond ones own scope. Yet when we have been looking at the world around us through lenses such as the acrostic eye & intersectionality for so many years then come they will & you learn to get used to it.

Whether or not the Democrats do cravenly end the current Government shut down without concrete concessions from the Republicans, I fear that the lesson that the powers that be will learn is that threatening the most vulnerable & SNAP will get them what they want, or closer to it. This isn’t entirely by happenstance. The people who preach whether from pulpit or podium or podcast mic or of the glories of greed & power-over very much want this to be the situation. By removing anything resembling affordable health-care, by working to ramp up food insecurity in the US & around the world, by sowing every form of division they can within society & culture, the authoritarians in power & their allies seek to keep those they wish to subjugate weak & disorganized & struggling to survive.

All so that people will not come together.

We as individuals can feel overwhelmed & helpless in the face of such sweeping events. The powers that be count on that. As individuals we often struggle. Communities, however, solve problems & survive & sometimes thrive in the face of sweeping events & authoritarian aspirations.

Two of the main fronts in which battle for control of our age are being fought currently are Food Insecurity & Healthcare/Health Insecurity.

So what can WE do?

Which of the two fronts is calling to you the strongest in the current moment? What skills or experiences can you bring to the work? Start looking at what is being done around these issues in your area. What 501c3 charities or mutual-aid groups are working on them? Are any of these projects you could lend a hand or a few dollars to? Are you called to work with any of them? Are you moved to create something new? Who might your allies (either individuals, groups, or organizations) in this work be?

A month ago when I started looking at the persistence of hunger and food insecurity where I live I was both appalled & inspired. Appalled at how large the problem appeared to be. Inspired by the number & variety of groups both formal & informal who were fighting the good fight. Now I am taking baby steps towards greater involvement in my local community.

I'm a #pagan, #polytheist, and #animist devoted primarily to a few Greek and Egyptian deities. I'm a #Dionysian. My practice includes daily #meditation, devotional activities to various deities and spirits, finding modern ways to celebrate ancient holidays, and ancestor work, among other things.

I also enjoy #drawing, #painting, #flowarts, #hiking, #reading, #writing, watching #movies, and #gaming in my spare time.
