I'm very happy with this USB ethernet #tethering. Today I used it again when being away from my own WiFi. I just connected the #Librem5 to my laptop, and all still worked. The configurations were remembered. Totally plug and play. And the good thing is that the Librem 5 #Linux phone nicely charges from the #Fedora laptop as well.

An when you switch on the #hotspot on the Librem 5, that works as well at the same time for other devices.

Weil die App auf dem Zweitgerät nicht läuft (Absturz), kommt dort #Athena zum Zuge. Auch diese arbeitet nach dem ja/nein-Prinzip, ist aber deutlich umfangreicher an Möglichkeiten. Die ich (noch) nicht alle testen kann, da einige nur in der kostenpflichtigen Premium-Version aktiv sind.

It appears that each time tethering is enabled or disabled on the iPhone, it disconnects Image Capture. So if you have spotty cellular service – because perhaps you live in the United States, where that’s the only kind of cellular service on offer – you might find that happens so often that you can’t complete basic media transfers in Image Capture.

Seufz, bei 2578 offenen Tickets will man nun auch nicht dreist sein und nochmal pushen. Aber schön wäre es via Scrcpy Audio durchzuleiten zu den Hörgeräten.

Tatsächlich hat es bis jetzt aber mit AudioRelay auch immer gereicht.

Is there a way to enable IPv6 in Hotspot-Mode on @jolla #SailfishOS on #JollaC2 ?

Sadly my Homeserver only has an external IPv6 Adress, so my Jolla Phone can connect with IPv6, but my Laptop using the C2 as #Tethering hotspot can't

Hatte seit ein paar Tagen am Laptop plötzlich extreme WLAN-Probleme, Verbindung zum Access Point immer nur noch für wenige Sekunden und dann nicht erklärbarer dauerhafter Abbruch. Die lange Analyse der (nicht geänderten) Software hätte ich mir sparen können: Andere WLAN-Karte geholt, eingesteckt und schon läuft es wie früher 🙄 Da scheint die Mediadreck-Karte einfach den Geist aufgegeben zu haben, jetzt geht es mit einer Intel AX 210 weiter.

Tipp für solche Fälle, bei denen man kein Internet per Kabel bekommen kann: Smartphone per USB anschließen, #Tethering aktivieren und das Smartphone als externe WLAN-Karte einsetzen. Funktioniert einwandfrei und erstaunlich schnell 😅 Keine Dauerlösung, aber als temporärer Workaround überraschend gut. Android kann ja auch Tethering und gleichzeitig selbst im WLAN sein.

So, eben mal bei einer Videokonferenz AudioRelay (https://audiorelay.net) genutzt. Es ist doch tatsächlich vom verstehen und Lautstärkeregelung nochmal um einiges angenehmer als über die Lautsprecher.

Handy als PC-Lautsprecher (+ ggf. Mikrofon). Warum das cool wäre? Ich könnte vom PC direkt auf's Handy umlenken, wo ich permanent mit den Hörgeräten verbunden bin. (Hörgeräte mit mehreren Geräten verbinden ist nervig und nicht praktikabel). Bonus: es sollte via USB gehen, da auf der Arbeit das Handy sonst im VPN sein müsste (was auch noch großer Range ist).

Finde ich hier Menschen, die beim Mobilfunkanbieter #SimonMobil Kunde sind?

Da für mich #Tethering absolut entscheidend ist, funktioniert das dort reibungslos und zuverlässig?

Falls es darüber hinaus negativ erwähnenwertes gibt, bin ich daran durchaus interessiert. Z.B. wie es sich mit dem #SuperCookie verhält, den #Vodafone angeblich einsetzt?

Here's something I haven't found on the web about #tethering your #smartphone:
to your computer. I mean connect it via a #USB cable, and use the #smartphone as your router:

Change the default gateway.

You can try' for example, running "ifconfig" on Termux, or use a third party app like Ning to find the IP of interface "rndis0".

Then on FreeBSD, use the command:

route change -net default xxxx

where xxxx is the default gateway of your smartphone's cellular network.

I hope in Linux it will be set automatically.

Today #Inea, my ISP, had a major fiber fault — apparently ranging from the Dębiec district of Poznań, all the way south to Czempiń (something like 30 km). What did I discover due to that?

Firstly, I couldn't find any way to find information on current faults anywhere on their website. Finally, I've decided to use the "chat" with their "virtual advisor" (i.e. some stupid LLM). Immediately after opening it and agreeing to the terms of service, it threw a list of current faults at me. Couldn't they have put that somewhere in the website instead?

Secondly, I had a hard time getting #tethering with my phone to work. I couldn't figure out why #DHCP wasn't working. And neither #systemd, nor #Android, provides any useful way to debug this shit, so I've finally tried Wireshark. Using it, I was able to tell what IP the phone is using, gave my PC an address in the same range, and DHCP miraculously started working.

In fact, I do believe it isn't the first time that DHCP didn't work for me until I gave some random IP address to the computer. I admit that I'm not a networking expert, nor would I even call myself a sysadmin, but WTF?!

Z WS wypatrzyłem, jakie IP ma telefon, dałem komputerowi IP z tego samego adresu — i cud, DHCP w końcu zaczęło działać.

Stavo pensando: da ora che ho la tastiera più piccolina per il #PC, e mi sa che mi trovo parecchio meglio ad usare lo #smartphone come #touchpad (per certi versi più comodo del #mouse normale per me) rispetto a quando avevo quella grossa, potrei quasi quasi comprarlo un touchpad #USB… 😁️

E però oh, non si trovano a un prezzo decente, né su Amazon né su AliExpress, eccetto per uno micragnoso brutto minuscolo (che comunque per il #prezzo è un insulto eh)… #mannaggia!!! E persino da alcuni cinesi locali non ho trovato; forse dovrei cercare meglio in tutti, ma a questo punto neanche ho la certezza di trovare qualcosa, figuriamoci di bono. 😩️

Altrimenti, questa è forse la volta buona che trovo un utilizzo pratico per il mio vecchio #Huawei distrutto, che sta nel cassetto a marcire (il vetro c’ha lo #spacc, ma il #digitizer funziona, e al tatto non c’è problema perché c’è una pellicola intatta sopra)… perché certamente col telefono primario, che mi serve per altro ed è pure bello cicciotto non posso andare avanti così. Preferirei comunque un vero touchpad però perché #KDEConnect #lagga, a meno di trovare #app alternative (o forse mi basta collegare il #telefono al PC con il #tethering USB?) 🐁️
