End of the Year Drama Challenge
Day 20
A drama that made you sad or cry
*From this year:
-Joy of Life 2
There were many moments when it made me cry, especially the ones where the Fan family is involved. Fan Jian saying he's proud of Fan Sizhe. Or when Fan Xian tells Fan Jian and Madam Fan his surname will be Fan in the future. Or when the old censor died.-Let Free the Curse of Taekwondo
It was a sad show with the precise dose of hope. But some parts made me cry because of how raw they were.*Shows I watched this year that are not from this year but made me cry:
-Oh, no! Here Comes Trouble (2023)
I cried a lot. But I also laughed a lot. And then I cried again. I loved it.-Nirvana in Fire (2015)
-He's Coming to Me (2019)
-A Tale of Thousand Stars (2021)
-Moonlight Chicken (2023)
-Under the microscope (2023) (yes, I cried with this one 😶)I think I am a cryer, oops

End of the Year Drama Challenge
Day 12
A platonic relationship you loved?
There's the one between Yai and Tharn in The Sign. Yai is like a brother to Tharn, he's always been there for him and is the one who knows about his visions and his trauma from losing his loved ones.
Then there's the the friendship of Yi Yong, Guang Yan, and Chu Ying in Oh, no! Here Comes Trouble. I loved the way it grows and how they end up caring so much about each other (I know this is from a 2023 show but I just watched it aaand I just loved it so I'm including it).
I could name so many friendships but it's late and I'm sleepy.

End of the Year Drama Challenge
Day 9
A drama from another year you watched in 2024
Many... I just started watching asian dramas last year and I'm trying to watch as many as I can.
That said, these are some from different countries I watched (in alphabetical order because it's easier that way):
-I Cannot Reach You (2023)
-Moonlight Chicken (2023)
-Nirvana in Fire (2015)
-Oh, no! Here Comes Trouble (2023) -
CW: Unknown - ep 2
Uh-oh... The teacher visits Wei Qian at home to talk about Yuan. He's smart but doesn't get along with his peers because he's younger than them.
The teacher suggests some clubs.
The teacher: "you have a lot in your hands"
Yuan uses Qian's birthday as his phone password. But come on...
Ah. Yuan has a part time job. Qian is not happy.
Q: what do you need a part time job for? Have I not given you enough?
Y: I just want to help.
Q: How can you help? At your age you should study hard and have fun.
Ouch
Bad boys, making fun of Lili's dancing 😒
Yuan fainted. He's stubborn.
Wei Qian: he's a stubborn mule. It's impossible to rein him in.
San Pang: I wonder where je learned that 🧐
San Pang meddling. Lol "what's your blood type?"
Yuan, Lili and San Pang spying Qian on his dates lol
Oh no. Ooofff. The change was so sudden. Wei Qian's memories about his mother :blobFlee: Damn. Even my heart rate quickened in distress
Now Qian was dizzy and almost fell in the bathroom.
Yuan: Ge, you're not alone
Now Wei Zhiyuan is all grown up, he's in college. And Qian graduated.
I wonder if the music thing on YouTube is a matter of rights 🤔

CW: Unknown - ep 1 (many spoilers)
Ok, here we go.
Wei Qian, an orphan, took this kid (also an orphan, but also homeless) in and now he's part of the household. The little sister asked him to, but by then Wei Qian had been sharing food with the boy for a while.
Wei Qian took a job with the local gang, which isn't promising.
But he has to support his little sister and the new family member, too. He's also a kid (older, but still a kid) when this happens and we see him grow up.
I assume the leader of the gang helped register the kid: Wei Zhi Yuan
"That means the kid is yours"
Wei Qian is constantly getting beat up. Part of his job, but he makes the kid so worried 🥺
The friend (don't remember his name) when he goes to see Wei Qian at the clinic: "You're the big brother, you should be a role model"
Wei Qian tries to leave the gang.
Oh, shit, the gang took the boy 😖
[Me, during the fight, completely unrelated: hey, I know the numbers! *stars counting out loud* ]
Wei Qian has to fight three thugs so he can leave for good.
"If I lost you, I'd have nothing left"
Ahhh, damn. So many feels.
Ok. I tried it on Youtube and the lack of music at some points makes it weird. Because there's really not much dialogue but the sequence of Wei Qian working his ass off and taking care of his siblings*
Wei Qian is grown up now and he's a college student but also a streamer (if I got it right). And what he cares the most about, above everything else, is his family.

On Viki was better, honestly.
On YouTube the dual subtitles were a bit distracting because my brain just kept being drawn to them trying to identify characters/words I already know (pronouns, and very few others like 不 or 哥 lol)
