Large corporations are shopping for underground bunkers that can survive a nuclear blast, and the first adopters are mostly cryptocurrency firms, says @Semafor. The facilities are designed to protect data centers and C-suite execs, and cost tens of millions to build. The pitch? The apocalypse. "The more worries there are in the headline news, the more people look for solutions," Larry Hall, owner of Survival Condo said from his company's bunker in Kansas, a 54,000-square-foot space with a rock wall and hydroponics farm.

am watching one of my fav restorers on YT (via Invidious, mind you) and just reckoned:
how did skills that used to be considered so basic as to be taught in Home Economics courses well into the 1980s (i graduated high school in 1984) become reasons to flag people as #survivalists and fascism sympathizers.
sit with that for a minute: only silver spoon cretins who have never lifted a finger to even boil water would consider the manual labor of arts crafts as fascist interest.

The only down side to Burning Man current disaster is that people coming out of it will then consider themselves to be #survivalists. We won't be able to stop them from talking about it.
